Bee's Florist - July 2015

On Tuesday morning the Blue Review Committee met at Bee’s Florist located at 27116 167th Pl. SE#104 close to City Hall and Starbucks.  If I had to use one word to describe Bee’s Florist and its owner, Lyne Long, hometown is the word that springs to mind. As you approach the shop, you will see a welcoming quaint and homey bench & plants carefully set out in front of the shop each day inviting anyone to have a seat, and relax among the flowers.  Once inside the shop you will notice wonderful items for sale, all from local artists and craftsmen, right down to the plants and flowers.  Lyne features unique gift ideas, including vases, handmade cards, gift baskets, and home décor items. Bee’s Florist is as home grown as it gets.  As a small town shop themselves, they feel it is very important to support local businesses and try to utilize only local vendors. They do not participate in the large national flower delivery chains as many of their competitors do, opting for a much more personalized experience and small town feel for their shop.  Lyne feels this allows them to make community connections and build lasting relationships with their customers. We were impressed by Lyne’s sincere welcome and her enthusiasm when talking about the shop, her future plans, and the flowers she so lovingly uses in designing bouquets.  This philosophy comes through in Lyne’s floral designs and is evident in the items on display.  When asked what her favorite occasion to create arrangements for is, surprisingly she replied that she enjoys working on funerals. She likes to take the time to get to know the individual whose life is being celebrated and truly help to personalize their service by creating unique floral arrangements focused on the whole person.  She enjoys helping people through a difficult time by creating something meaningful to them rather than the generic flower arrangements you will often find at other shops.  She told a beautiful story about a family that had lost their son.  She took the time to talk to the parents, look at pictures and get to know their son.  She noticed a pair of boots and hat that he had always worn in his pictures and asked the family to bring them in so she could create flower arrangements out of those personal items.  That is a level of personalized care and service that would be rare to find at a large chain and creates a much more meaningful experience for the customer.

Again, that hometown caring shines through! If you want the personal touch, from someone who cares about the important moments in your life, Lyne at Bee’s Florist is who you want to talk to!
